Thanks for Visiting. Our NEW Website will be Live

Welcome to RecycleAID Cartridge Recycling program.

Did you know that hundreds of people Nationwide are literally throwing money in the bin with out even realising it?

Here you will find a unique recycling scheme that will show you how to raise money and do your bit for the environment all in one swoop. A recent survey showed that only 10% of empty printer cartridges are being recycled.

This obviously means that 90% of the empty printer cartridges in the UK are going into the waste bin and then dumped in our land fill sites.

Not only is this bad news for the environment but it is a massive waste of money. How much hard cash has been thrown in the bin? What a difference this cash could have made to Charities or schools had we recycled?

The good news is that we have a simple solution that can dramatically reduce the impact of sending empty printer cartridges to landfill sites at the same time as making extra money.

Introduction to printer cartridge recycling

The value of empty printer cartridges

Many people get confused as to what cartridge they are actually using. Is it an inkjet cartridge or a toner cartridge?

Well quite simply the large heavy printer cartridges are toners, (sometimes called laser cartridges) these are used mainly, but not always, by businesses and schools etc. They are usually black plastic and contain a black carbon-like dust. Inkjet cartridges are much smaller and are generally found in homes or in your desk top printer. These contain a wet ink.

We only pay for ‘original’ cartridges.(known as virgin) These are cartridges that have not been previously remanufactured or refilled before. Original printer cartridges will be clearly marked with the manufacturers logo and cartridge number, for instance HP, Lexmark, Canon etc.

Remanufactured or refilled cartridges (known as non virgin) generally have stickers or a label covering the original logo’s which make them easy to spot.

Look closey, by law remanufactures have to make it clear that it has been refilled or manufactured. If it has a brand name that is not widely recognised chances are it is not an original cartridge. We do not accept these under our scheme. Other cartridges we don’t accept are Epson & Canon ink tanks.

Ink-tanks are inkjet cartridges that do not have a printhead or copper circuitry attached to the actual cartridge.

All the recyclable cartridges that we collect have a value. The value of a cartridge depends on a few different things.

The age of the printer, the popularity of certain printers and consumer demand all help in dictating the recyclable value. Prices for empty cartridges rise and fall just like any other commodity on the market, this makes it difficult to issue up to date price lists.

We do our best to absorb the minor changes to enable us to give competitive prices, we price per consignment prior to collection. For up to date pricing please email a list to empties@cartridgeexpress.net or call 0113 242 8935

Please email empties@cartridgeexpress.net or telephone 0113 242 8935 to to arrange a collection or request our free postage service.

About RecycleAid

Key member of our team have been actively involved in reducing waste and supporting local and national charities raise money through printer cartridge recycling since 1993. In that time millions of printer cartridges and mobile phones have been kept out of landfill sites and recycled to produce lower priced cartridges and consumables.

From the early days of recycling printer cartridges from a few local businesses, we have increased the range of services that we offer and grown hugely in terms of the quantity of items we recycle each year. One area that has not changed is the very highest level of service that we aim to provide you.

We believe that our business has a corporate responsibility to our local area and environment, and also on a more global level. We continue to promote best practice with regards to recycling and sustainability.

What we do

RecycleAid is specialised in the collection and reuse/disposal of empty toner and ink cartridges. Every day, we collect thousands of used cartridges. We have signed contracts with businesses and organisations in every sector and of every size. After collection, the recycling and reassembly of cartridges and subsequent monitoring take place under stringent conditions.

Each year, the environmental standards for businesses and organisations are becoming more rigorous. With this in mind, RecycleAid drafts a Cartridge Collection Report for our customers, detailing exactly what material we have collected. That way, you can demonstrate that you have acted responsibly and that your organisation meets environmental standards.

Our cartridge collection program has nothing but benefits to offer. To begin with, you don’t have to do anything. We collect the cartridges, when you want us to. Not only is that free of charge, we even pay you a price for each recyclable cartridge. In addition, we give each of our customers detailed management information about the material we collect and recycle. You can use this Cartridge Collection Report in your annual environmental performance report or for environmental monitoring purposes.

Fundraising

We manage a number of fundraising programmes which support charities, Non Governmental Organisations and other good causes whilst diverting harmful products from landfill.

Recycling Appeals are effective ways for businesses to use their influence to create positive social and environmental impacts. Retailers currently running Recycling Appeals offer their customers an opportunity to recycle mobile phones and printer cartridges while raising money for a charity.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is used by many businesses and organisations as a way to continually improve their impact on the environment and community whilst simultaneously improving their own commercial performance.

RecycleAID’s recovery and recycling programmes provide a fantastic way for all organisations to meet and satisfy their moral, social and economic obligations under CSR.

Working in partnership to reuse and recycle printer cartridges and mobile phones will help you as an organisation improve your contributions to the community, charity and the environment.

Recycling Process

Cartridge Express Recycling Ltd re-manufacturing facility is based in Leeds, where a unique manufacturing service is provided.

Every inkjet and laser toner cartridge returned to RecycleAID is sorted and then carefully inspected for visual signs of damage. Cartridges that do not meet the required premium specification are dismantled and reusable parts are circulated for additional recycling; the remaining unusable components are forwarded to carefully selected specialist brokers who dispose of the damaged goods conscientiously and in an ecologically friendly manner. Occasionally it may not be viable to refill a laser toner cartridge at our premises so the complete unit is returned to the originating manufacturer.

Cartridges passing our visual examination are systematically cleaned using state-of-the art technology and equipment. Each cartridge is then tested, with the aid of advanced electronic testing equipment, to determine the anticipated life-span and quality of electronic circuitry and casing materials.

On completion of the first stage of the recycling process each cartridge is filled with premium grade inks. Utilising both precision manufacturing equipment and vacuum-controlled conditions to enhance and protect the purity of the end product, recycled inkjet and laser toner cartridges of the highest quality are in the making. Once the cartridges have completed the refilling procedure they are re-tested to ensure 100% quality.

Once the cartridges have been through the final stages of production the are packed and distributed across the UK to provide a low cost, high quality alternative to buying original manufactures cartridges.
