Te Maunga Transfer Station is owned and operated by Tauranga City Council, Te Maunga Dump allows you to dispose of the following items here:
- Cans (aluminium and steel)
- Car batteries
- Cardboard
- Clothing and textiles (not shoes or scraps of materials)
- Fire extinguishers (used or unused)
- Gas bottles
- Glass bottles and jars (not window glass or light bulbs)
- Home appliances: fridges or freezers, ovens, dishwashers, microwaves, washing machines and clothes dryers
- Metals
- Mobile phones with batteries
- Oil (5 x 4 litre packs – up to 20 litres max). Waste oil is collected at the waste pit (located at the waste drop off area within the transfer station – separate to the recycling centre). If you bring the oil as part of a load containing waste, the whole load will be charged as waste.
- Paper (newspaper, magazines, office paper, junk mail, envelopes)
- Plastic bottles (numbers 1 and 2 only)
